युध्दात, कधी साहसी कृत्यात प्राण गमावलेल्यांना वीर म्हटले जाते. अशा वीरांची स्मारके गावकऱ्यांकडून अथवा कुटुंबियांकडून आदरपूर्वक उभी केली गेली. त्यांना वीरगळ म्हटले जाते. वीरगळांची संख्या आपल्या येथील खेडोपाडी लक्षणीय प्रमाणांत आढळते. सती गेलेल्या मृत स्त्रियांची स्मारकेही आढळतात. वीरगळ हे ही आपला इतिहास समजून घेण्याचे साधन होऊ शकते.

Those who lost their lives in war, sometimes in acts of bravery, are called heroes. Memorials of such heroes were erected with respect by villagers or their families.
