Sadashiv Tetwilkar

Sadashiv Tetvilkar is a dedicated historian and researcher from Thane, Maharashtra, known for his work on ancient fortifications and memorial stones. Despite having no formal advanced education in history, his interest led him to spend decades exploring forts and historical sites.
Hid research concentrates on uncovering historical facts from unconventional sources, such as oral traditions and ancient memorial stones known as veergal (hero stones).
He has extensively documented the veergal found throughout Maharashtra, which are memorial stones erected to honor heroes who died in battle or during adventurous acts. His work highlights the potential of these stones, along with sati stones, as unique historical sources.
Early in his career, Tetvilkar joined excursions with author G. N. Dandekar to explore the forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He began writing about his historical research in 1978.
He has authored several books, primarily in Marathi, based on his field work

Sahyadri Parikrama, which chronicles a trek he undertook in the Sahyadri mountains with four friends in 1983
